Jim Feeney Named to National Law Journal’s “Litigation Trailblazers” List

Dykema is proud to announce that Jim Feeney, Bloomfield Hills-based member in the firm’s Litigation Department, was named to the National Law Journal’s 2021 “Litigation Trailblazers” list, as featured in its November/December issue.

According to the National Law Journal, the publication shines a light on those who have taken extra measures to contribute to positive outcomes. The “Trailblazers” lists serve as a spotlight on individuals that are truly agents of change within their respective fields.

Feeney is one of the nation’s most prominent trial attorneys, regularly tackling high-profile, high-stakes litigation matters as a “go-to” trial attorney for the world’s largest companies. During his nearly 50-year career, he has been involved in more than 1,500 cases, at least 70 of which he has tried to verdict. He has successfully tried to defense verdict five state or nationwide class actions seeking billions of dollars in damages from his clients. His experience includes trials of high-stakes matters for the automotive industry, financial institutions, media companies, real estate developers, and equipment leasing and insurance companies.

In July of this year, a case in which Feeney served as lead counsel was successfully defended when a jury in the Superior Court of California, Orange County sided with Kia America in a product liability suit where the plaintiff sought more than $103M in damages. In January of this year, another case Feeney was lead trial counsel for was recognized by the Daily Journal as one of the “Top Defense Verdicts” in California in 2020.

Feeney, who was inducted into the Michigan Lawyers Weekly Hall of Fame in 2020, received a J.D., cum laude, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
