On June 5, 2014, James M. Cameron, Jr., Office Managing Member of Dykema’s Ann Arbor office, was presented the “Integrity in Our Communities” Award, conferred by the Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Center for Ethics, Service and Professionalism. This event took place at the Cooley Law School’s Ann Arbor campus, and was attended by the school’s students and faculty members.

In conferring the award, Joan Vestrand, Dean of the Law School, recognized Cameron for his nearly four decades practicing law and serving the greater Ann Arbor community both through his representation of private and public businesses, educational entities (such as the Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education and Michigan Teacher Tenure Commission) and municipal government (Cameron had served as counsel for the City of Ann Arbor) and his active participation in civic and community organizations.

In accepting the award, Cameron delivered a presentation—“Ethics in the Legal Community and the Importance of Pro Bono and Community Service”—in which he reaffirmed the need to be “other-directed,” giving of oneself to the community and helping those in need.

The Thomas M. Cooley Law School is a private, nonprofit independent law school, with four campuses in Michigan and one in Florida. The school has over 17,000 graduates worldwide.
