January 23, 2013

Janet A. Stiven, a Chicago-based business attorney and Dykema Member whose practice focuses on strategic business and technology transactions in the medical device, hospitality and automotive sectors, will be among the presenters at the 2013 Mid-Year Meeting of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL). This three-day conference will be held in Orlando, Florida, beginning February 14, 2013.

Stiven’s presentation, “Cloud Computing: Understanding the Current Legal Issues”, will focus on the various legal considerations and frequently negotiated Cloud contract terms—among them, data security and privacy, lock-in and exit, data integrity and disaster recovery—that lawyers need to understand fully before negotiating agreements for Cloud-based services.

Stiven is a long-standing member of NAWL and was the recipient of NAWL’s Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member Award in 2010. Stiven’s commitment to women in law also manifests itself in her active involvement in, and leadership of, Dykema’s Women’s Business Initiative, a firm-wide effort that brings together women attorneys and government policy professionals with women business leaders, providing opportunities for networking and professional and personal growth.
