John C. Dickey, Dallas-based member of Dykema’s Corporate Finance practice whose experience includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships, will be one of five presenters at a live two-hour webcast—“CFIUS and FINSA Hot Topics in 2014”—that will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, from 10 am to 12 noon (ET).

In this webcast, conducted under the aegis of The Knowledge Group, Dickey and his fellow presenters will address current key issues that emerge from CFIUS (The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States) and FINSA (Foreign Investment and National Security Act of 2007). These two initiatives—the first, an inter-agency committee that reviews foreign transactions involving U.S. businesses that could raise national security considerations; the second, the U.S. regulation that governs CFIUS—have been put into place to ensure that national security is not compromised in any transaction (mergers, acquisitions, take-overs) that could result in foreign control of U.S. businesses or assets owned by U.S. entities.

Among the subjects that Dickey and the other webinar presenters will discuss:

  • CFIUS and FINSA 2014: an overview
  • Emerging trends and issues involving foreign investment in high technology
  • Tips in achieving a successful acquisitions process
  • Compliance and best practices
  • Latest regulatory updates

The webinar is aimed at general counsel, compliance officers, regulatory and policy managers and all others involved in foreign investment, national security and international  trade practice at U.S. companies that may be targets for foreign investment. The webcast is accredited and will provide 1.75 to 2 credit-hours (CLE/CPE).
