Jonathan Feld Quoted in Law360 Article on White Collar Cases to Watch in 2014

Jonathan S. Feld, member of Dykema’s Litigation Department whose practice focuses on Business Litigation, White-Collar Criminal Defense, Internal Investigations and Corporate Compliance matters, is quoted in an article—“White Collar Cases to Watch in 2014”—that appears in the January 2, 2014 issue of Law360.

In the article, Feld refers to a current criminal case before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (U.S. v. Farid Fata) as illustrative of the federal government’s crackdown on health care fraud. In this particular case, the government alleges a two-year fraud in which the owner of a Michigan-based cancer treatment center fraudulently billed Medicare for approximately $35 million, far and away “more than any other hematologist/oncologist in the state of Michigan during that time period.”

Feld—who, prior to joining Dykema, had served as an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice—says, “For many years, one of the government’s priorities has been health care fraud, but this administration in the last three or four years, with the amount of money going into Medicare, has ramped it up. They have put a real emphasis on this area and reallocated resources to task forces.”
