Jonathan Feld, member of the Firm’s Litigation Department whose practice focuses on Business Litigation, White-Collar Criminal Defense, Internal Investigations and Corporate Compliance matters, will be a featured presenter at the American Conference Institute’s 6th Chicago FCPA Boot Camp. This two-day event, the world’s largest gathering of the nation’s FCPA compliance professionals—including C-suite executives, top compliance officers and general counsel from leading U.S. companies—will be held at the Omni Chicago Hotel on June 24 and 25, 2014.

On June 24, Feld, joined by Bahman Farahdel (Senior Compliance Officer, Global Head of Sanctions and Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption Compliance at Bloomberg LP), will lead a 75-minute interactive town hall session, “Mitigating Joint Venture Risks in Emerging Markets.”

In this presentation, Feld and his co-presenter will discuss:

  • Common examples of the most frequently-occurring challenges in joint ventures
  • How to deal with push-back from potential local JV partners on your anti-corruption requirements
  • Which regions present the most problems, and why
  • What provisions should be included in your agreements to protect your organization’s interests

On June 25, Feld will moderate a panel discussing “How to Execute an Effective Global Internal Investigation After a Tip is Received—Practical and Ethical Considerations.”

The discussion will cover: 1) ethical considerations in interviewing employees;  2) how to design the investigative plan; and 3) what is protected by the attorney-client privilege.
