Victor Johnson Speaks About High Court Fair Use Ruling in Westlaw Today

Victor Johnson, Dallas-based Member in Dykema’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, was quoted in the Westlaw Today article, “Google’s high court copyright win means ‘more claims of fair use,’ attorneys say.”

In the article, Johnson commented on the April 5 Supreme Court fair use ruling in favor of Google and its copying more than 11,500 lines of Oracle’s Java source code to create its Android smartphone operating system. Johnson said, “…courts and litigants in future software cases will pay special attention to the nature of the copied software at issue and its functional use."
