Eric Fingerhut Discusses Adidas Footwear Fight in World Intellectual Property Review

Eric T. Fingerhut, Office Managing Member of Dykema's Washington, D.C., office and former leader of Dykema’s Trademark & Copyright Practice, co-authored the World Intellectual Property Review article, “Drawing the Battle Lines: Adidas’s Mission to Protect Its Three Stripes.”

Fingerhut recounts how Adidas invoked trademark dissolution protection laws to prevent other companies, such as Payless Shoes and Forever21, from using decorative stripes on their sports footwear, and further explains how those laws have been interpreted in the courts.
