Marsha Gentner Quoted in Westlaw Journal IP on Copyright Ban for Annotated State Laws

Marsha Gentner, Washington, D.C.-based senior counsel in Dykema’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, was quoted in the Westlaw Journal Intellectual Property article “Attorneys React to High Court’s Copyright Ban for Annotated State Laws.”

The article discusses anticipated, unintentional consequences of the high court’s decision that Georgia’s legal codes are ineligible for copyright protection and raises concern over agreements with parties contracted to author state law annotations. Gentner theorizes that “a state could contract out for a ‘preferred vendor’ to create the annotations.”
