Jason Hanselman Quoted in Law360 Article Regarding How an Upcoming Change in Presidential Administrations May Affect Gaming and Indian Law

Jason T. Hanselman, Lansing-based member in Dykema’s Government Policy & Practice group, was quoted in the Law360 article, “4 Things Keeping Tribes’ Attorneys Up At Night.” The article discusses highlights four unsettling subjects keeping tribes’ attorneys on the alert, such as the Supreme Court tacking on cases that could affect tribal jurisdiction, the upcoming change of presidential administrations, and challenges facing the Indian Child Welfare Act.

Hanselman discusses how counseling tribes can be tricky when federal agencies could soon revise their interpretations of federal statutes impacting tribal businesses, pointing out that an entirely new administration in Washington could have a new approach to tribal gaming. He goes on to state that a new administration could take some significantly different positions from the Obama administration within 18 months.
