Janet A. Stiven, a Chicago-based business attorney and Dykema Member whose practice focuses on strategic business and technology transactions in the medical device, hospitality and automotive sectors, will participate in a panel discussion – “Document Management Systems and Data Security in Professional Services Firms” – at the World Services Group Latin American Regional Meeting in Santiago, Chile on Monday, March 18.

Stiven will focus her remarks on the risks/benefits of using SaaS (software as a service) and other Cloud services in connection with document management systems. Stiven plans to discuss the various legal considerations and frequently negotiated Cloud contract terms—among them, data security and privacy, lock-in and exit, data integrity and disaster recovery—that lawyers need to understand fully before negotiating agreements for Cloud-based services.
