T.L. Summerville Authors Final in a Series of Three Articles for InsideCounsel

T.L. Summerville, Detroit-based member in Dykema’s Commercial Litigation practice, authored the article, “Improving contracts in the face of litigation: A commercial litigator’s advice to in-house counsel,” that appeared in InsideCounsel. The article is the final in a series of three articles Summerville has contributed to the publication over the last quarter of 2014.

In the first two articles of the series, Summerville focuses on ways in-house counsel can help the client avoid contract disputes. In particular, the articles discussed reviewing the company’s contracts before and during the negotiation stage, and strategies for amending an executed contract at the first sign of trouble, both with an eye on clarity and improvement.

In the final article, Summerville provides a few tips for understanding principles of contract negotiation that can help bring a lawsuit to an end and strengthen the client’s position moving forward.
