Gina Torielli Named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Women in the Law” Class of 2015

Gina M. Torielli, Ann Arbor-based senior counsel in Dykema’s Taxation Department, was named one of 30 “Women in the Law” for 2015 by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. A luncheon celebrating the honorees will be held Sept. 10, at the Detroit Marriott Troy, where the publication will announce the 2015 “Woman of the Year.”

According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the 2015 Women in the Law awards program salutes high-achieving women lawyers in Michigan and their accomplishments. The women being honored are individuals who have made meaningful and inspiring contributions to the legal community.

In her practice, Torielli focuses on taxation and public finance. In that capacity she has advised many nonprofit organizations and governmental entities on issues relating to tax exemption, tax-exempt financing and state and federal tax issues. Earlier this year, she received the 2015 Barbara R. Smith Award from Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit in for her role as a member of the Grand Bargain Mediation Team for the City of Detroit Bankruptcy.

Beyond her practice, Torielli is very active with community organizations. She was awarded the United Way of Washtenaw County’s 2015 Volunteer of the Year award for her role serving as the organization’s volunteer site coordinator and trainer for its IRS-sanctioned Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. She is also a board member of the Solar Circle, a nonprofit organization which promotes solar power in Tanzania.
