Steve Zeller, Chicago-based member in Dykema’s Intellectual Property Department, was quoted in the Westlaw Journal IP article, “Attorneys Weigh In on Impact of Federal Circuit Patent Venue Ruling.”

Reacting to the Federal Circuit in re Cray decision, which is certain to impinge on the Eastern District of Texas’s popularity with patent trolls, Zeller points out that an earlier Supreme Court case, TC Heartland v. Kraft Foods, was equally significant in limiting the meaning of “regular and established place of business” for purposes of venue selection.
