Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced that John W. Rees has been appointed Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property Transactional practice area.

Rees’s practice is devoted to the representation of clients in a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including U.S. and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, trade secret protection, product reverse engineering studies, product and trademark clearances and IP due diligence. Mr. Rees specializes in a broad range of technologies, including medical devices, machine-based inspection systems and automotive-related products with an emphasis on control algorithms.

A resident of West Bloomfield, Rees received a B.S.E., cum laude, from Oakland University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Dykema’s Intellectual Property Transactional practice area includes patent, trademark and copyright preparation and prosecution, trade secret identification and preservation, intellectual property opinions and risk assessments, licensing and due diligence.
