January 8, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Heather C. Harker to its Corporate Finance Practice Group as Of Counsel in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.

Harker joins Dykema from Genworth Financial, Inc. where she was Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Capital Markets specializing in securities and insurance products. In her position with Genworth Financial, Harker was responsible for the securities and regulatory filings associated with registered and unregistered variable annuity products, registered variable life insurance products, medium-term notes programs and other securities and insurance related issues associated with the subsidiary life insurance companies of Genworth Financial, Inc.

At Dykema, Heather will focus on expanding the practice of Dykema's Investment Management Subgroup and will provide life insurance companies and other clients the same kinds of securities and insurance law services that she has been providing to Genworth.

"Heather's combination of regulatory agency and corporate experience will greatly enhance the services that we offer our clients and will play an important role in the continued growth and expansion of Dykema's capabilities in the Nation's capital," said Rex Schlaybaugh, Dykema's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We welcome her to Dykema and the firm's Washington office."

Prior to joining Genworth Financial, Inc. in November 2001, Harker was an attorney with Nationwide Financial, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. She received a B.A. from Ohio State University, and a J.D. from The Capital University Law School.
