Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated (“Cox Smith”), the largest law firm in San Antonio, today announced litigator Jaime Aranda has joined the firm’s McAllen office as senior counsel.

Aranda’s addition continues the firm’s expansion in South Texas and brings the total number of Cox Smith attorneys in McAllen to six. Cox Smith has increased its presence in the Rio Grande Valley from its beginning in 1989 to its position today serving the region's leading financial institutions and businesses with their real estate, employment, bankruptcy and litigation needs.  Cox Smith also provides counsel to businesses seeking guidance on expanding their operations along the border.

Aranda has assisted clients in the Rio Grande Valley for several years. He represents clients in commercial litigation, primarily financial institutions and energy and natural resources related businesses. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio (with a degree in accounting) and Baylor Law School. He is a member of the Hidalgo County Bar Association and State Bar of Texas.

Aranda will work closely with Cox Smith attorneys Brent Bishop and Diann Bartek, the managing shareholder of Cox Smith’s McAllen office. Additionally, Aranda will work with Cox Smith attorneys in the firm’s San Antonio office on oil and gas litigation matters.

“Jaime is well known in the McAllen business community and brings experience litigating financial services, energy, and commercial matters to the firm. We welcome Jaime to our team and look forward to continuing to grow our south Texas presence in 2014 and beyond. There is significant opportunity for us to help businesses based in South Texas and also for us to assist companies looking for experienced counsel based in South Texas, and Jaime’s experience is well suited to our firm strategy,” said Bartek.
