Dykema, a leading national law firm, announces that it is sponsoring the 18th Annual International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL) Conference: "Strengthening Our Connections Throughout the World" being held at the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago September 23-26, 2010 and the Korean American Bar Association of Chicago (KABA) Annual Banquet at the Art Institute of Chicago on September 25, 2010. Dykema regularly assists Korean headquartered companies in their US ventures, providing advice encompassing asset acquisition, real estate and site selection, employment issues, and tax related matters.

Allan Sternstein, director of Dykema’s Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property Litigation Department, is participating on a panel discussion entitled "Intellectual Property – Trade Secrets" at the IAKL Conference. Dykema attorney, Peggy Rhiew, who practices litigation in the Financial Industry Group, is currently Secretary of KABA and serving on the IAKL Host Committee.

The IAKL is an organization that brings together lawyers in Korea and lawyers of Korean descent, as well as other interested persons from around the world. The IAKL was founded in 1988 and holds annual international conferences that have attracted attorneys, judges, law professors, and students from throughout the United States and Korea, as well as Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Belgium, France, England, and other countries.

KABA was established in 1993 and is comprised of over 200 attorneys and law school students. KABA provides a networking resource to its members and service to the community by hosting professional, educational, community, and social events throughout the year. It also sponsors a free legal clinic in conjunction with Korean American Community Services. KABA is committed to leadership, community, and service.

Mr. Sternstein has more than 30 years of experience in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secrets litigation; counseling; and licensing. He has tried IP cases in Federal courts across the country, including one case where he presented before the jury and obtained a record-setting damages award of more than $100 million, and has argued before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Sternstein is a member of the Illinois Trial Bar and has acted as an expert witness and as a mediator in patent disputes and has taught classes, authored and lectured on patent litigation, patent damages, patent law, patent prosecution and licensing.
