LAD Elects Dykema Attorney To Board Of Directors

Dykema, a leading national law firm, announces that Sherrie L. Farrell, a Member of the firm’s Litigation Department, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. (LAD). She will serve a term that ends December 31, 2011.

LAD is the largest provider of free legal services to the indigent in Michigan and one of the largest in the United States. They are a nonprofit, charitable organization whose mission is to provide comprehensive, aggressive legal advocacy and representation for residents of metropolitan Detroit.

Farrell is a mass torts and commercial litigation attorney whose experience includes defending Fortune 100 companies in high risk litigation. She also has substantial experience in coordinating and providing discovery strategies for companies involved in multi-district litigation and mass claims. Her additional experience includes national coordination and preparation of experts in mass tort cases.

Farrell has served as the national discovery counsel for a Fortune 25 defendant in asbestos litigation. She also served as national discovery counsel in other toxic tort litigation. Farrell has extensive experience in commercial and general business matters. She has represented closely-held corporations, auto suppliers, regional staffing agencies, and construction companies in both litigated and non-litigated matters. A veteran of business and government affairs, Farrell also is a involved in public-private partnership initiatives and the firm’s Infrastructure and Project Finance Practice Area.

A resident of Southfield, Michigan, Farrell received a B.A. from Wayne State University and a J.D., cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law.
