Anderson Named to Common Threads’ Board of Directors

CHICAGO—Dykema is pleased to announce that Bryan J. Anderson, an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department, was recently named to the Board of Directors of Common Threads, a nonprofit organization based in Chicago that is dedicated to educating children about the importance of nutrition and physical well being. Anderson was elected to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors for the 2011-2012 term.

Anderson’s practice focuses on product liability defense, with particular emphasis on high-stakes pharmaceutical products liability and medical device cases. He has extensive experience in defending mass tort litigation, including complex litigation and the national coordination and defense of pharmaceutical product liability cases. This includes representing Fortune 500 and multinational manufacturers in multidistrict and related state litigation. He also has experience in many types of general commercial litigation and appellate matters, including class action litigation.

Common Threads, a national nonprofit organization, was founded in 2003 by Art Smith, former personal chef to Oprah Winfrey, and his partner, Jesus Salgueiro. Its mission is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being, and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking. The organization reaches nearly 6,300 children, ages 8-12, annually during after-school cooking classes across 18 sites in Chicago, two sites in Los Angeles, four sites in Miami and four sites in Washington, D.C.
