Alison Ashmore and Gemma Galeoto Listed Among D Magazine's “Best Lawyers Under 40”

Dykema attorneys Alison Ashmore and Gemma Galeoto, both based in the firm’s Dallas office, were recently named among D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers Under 40” for 2018. Ashmore is a firm member, while Galeoto is a senior attorney.

D Magazine is a monthly publication that describes itself as covering a range of topics local to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including politics, business, food, fashion, and lifestyle. This is the first year the magazine has honored Dallas lawyers under 40 years of age. Ashmore and Galeoto were selected for this honor by a panel of eminent Dallas lawyers from a list of peer nominations who primarily practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and will be 39-years old or younger on December 31, 2018. No self-nominations were permitted for this honor.

Ashmore is a litigator that counsels clients in all manner of business issues, such as contractual disputes, trade secret protection, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, unfair competition, employment issues, bankruptcy claims and other business issues. She also has extensive experience advising lawyers on professional obligations and defending lawyers and firms against claims of malpractice, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. She has also advised individuals regarding will contests and guardianship matters.

She was previously honored by DMagazine in its 2017 “Best Lawyers In Dallas,” and has been recognized as a Texas "Rising Star" by SuperLawyers every year since 2012. Ashmore is active in the community as a board member for the Claremont Addition Neighborhood Association and volunteers as a Dallas CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate), advocating on behalf of abused and neglected children.  

Galeoto is also an experienced commercial litigator, specializing in complex disputes involving contracts, bankruptcy claims, fraud, unfair competition, trade secrets, consumer finance disputes, employment disputes, and appeals.  She has significant experience defending businesses, especially financial institutions, against federal law claims involving the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Truth In Lending Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the False Claims Act, as well as several state law claims.

Galeoto is also active in her community, serving on the Board of Directors for Prism Health North Texas, a group that helps those living with HIV and AIDS, and as a junior associate for the Dallas Museum of Art. She also volunteers as a Dallas CASA and with Paws in the City, a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter. She has also been recognized as a Texas "Rising Star" by SuperLawyers in each year since 2014.
