May 2, 2016

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced that Christopher D. Kratovil, a member of  the firm’s Litigation Department, has been appointed as the Office Managing Member of the firm’s 40-lawyer Dallas office. He succeeds former Dallas Office Managing Member Bill Finkelstein, who will transition his full-time practice to serving the firm as Senior Counsel.

Best known as an appellate advocate, Kratovil has represented clients at all stages of litigation in sophisticated commercial disputes before tribunals ranging from small town Texas trial courts to the U.S. Supreme Court. Kratovil has handled numerous matters in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and in the Texas appellate system. Widely recognized for his experience with Texas and federal arbitration law, Kratovil regularly handles case dispositive briefing and oral argument, jury charges, research intensive legal issues and error preservation in the trial courts.

Kratovil is also the author of several high-profile amicus curiae briefs, including on behalf United States Senator John Cornyn and, separately, for the Texas state representative who sponsored the so-called “Pole Tax” user fee on patrons of adult entertainment.

“Chris is an exceptional litigator with deep roots in the Texas legal and business communities,” said Peter Kellett, Dykema Chairman and CEO. “I am positive his leadership and exceptional client service skills will build upon the momentum and growth Bill Finkelstein established for our expanding Dallas office.”

Kratovil, who is a former law clerk to Judge Edith H. Jones of the Fifth Circuit, earned a J.D., with honors and Order of the Coif, from University of Texas at Austin School of Law and a B.A., magna cum laude, from University of Notre Dame. He has been repeatedly recognized as both a Texas Super Lawyer and one of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas” by D Magazine.
