July 24, 2018

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Michael C. Toth to its Commercial Litigation practice group as senior counsel in the firm’s Austin office. Toth joins Dykema after serving as Special Counsel to the First Assistant Attorney General in the Texas Office of Attorney General in Austin.

In his prior role, Toth worked closely with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, handling numerous cases. He developed and implemented litigation strategy in a broad range of high-profile cases, generated successful arguments in federal cases that resulted in nationwide injunctive relief, led executive projects involving multiple litigation divisions and specialties, and spearheaded the Attorney General’s engagement with federal officials and State Attorneys General on federal statutory and regulatory issues.

Toth is also a current judicial candidate for the Third Court of Appeals. Earlier in his career, he clerked for the Hon. Edith H. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and for the Hon. Ursula Ungaro of the Southern District of Florida. He is on the Steering Committee of the Federalist Society’s Austin Lawyers Chapter and a member of the American Enterprise Institute’s Leadership Network.

“Michael brings with him significant experience handling a wide range of litigation matters,” said Keith Shuley, Managing Member of Dykema’s Austin Office. “His vast background will no doubt benefit the firm and our clients. We’re very excited that he’s joined the firm.”

Toth earned his J.D., as well as an M.A. in History, from the University of Virginia and a B.A., magna cum laude, in History from Stanford University. He also served on active duty as a military attorney in the U.S. Marine Corps and remains active in the reserves. He was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, including one for an overseas deployment.
