Marty Truss Appointed to Lead Dykema’s San Antonio Office

Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today that James M. (Marty) Truss has been appointed as the Office Managing Member of the firm’s San Antonio office. Truss also serves as Co-Leader of the Firm’s Energy Industry Team. He succeeds Dan Harkins, who serves now as the firm’s Intellectual Property and IP Litigation Department Director.

Truss, who has been with the firm for more than 20 years, focuses his practice on complex business litigation primarily in the energy industry. He is a leading trial lawyer with experience representing major and independent oil and gas producers, operators, drilling contractors and associated service companies in a wide variety of high-stakes business litigation.

Truss is also very active in the legal, business and charitable communities in and around San Antonio. He has served as President of the San Antonio Bar Association and as Chair of the Texas State Bar Grievance Committee for the San Antonio Region. A graduate of Leadership San Antonio, Class XXIX, Truss currently serves on the Board of Trustees for United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County and the Council for the American Bar Association Section of Litigation. He has served in various board and leadership positions with Family Service Association, YMCA Texas Youth and Government, Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts and many other civic and charitable causes.

Truss earned a J.D. from St. Mary’s University of Law, summa cum laude, and a B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Recognized as the St. Mary’s Distinguished Law Graduate in 2016, Truss has been repeatedly acknowledged as both a Texas Super Lawyer and by The Best Lawyers in America guide, including recently being named “Lawyer of the Year” in San Antonio for Oil & Gas Law in 2018 by Best Lawyers in America. He was also recognized by the San Antonio Business Journal as “Outstanding Lawyer of the Year – Litigation” in 2011.
