Dykema, a leading national law firm, is proud to announce that Dan Webster, senior counsel in the firm’s San Antonio office, was selected by the San Antonio Bar Association (SABA) as the 2018 recipient of its highest honor, the Joe Frazier Brown, Sr. Award of Excellence. Dan will receive the award at the San Antonio Bar Foundation’s annual Gala Benefit & Awards on September 15, 2018, at the Valero Event Center.

The Joe Frazier Brown, Sr. Award of Excellence is given annually and recognizes an attorney who exemplifies all that is good about the legal profession. SABA chooses recipients that demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, exceptional skills as a counselor and advocate and such personal attributes as honor, integrity, service and intelligence. Additional criteria for award winners include serving as a model of the Texas Lawyer’s Creed and an inspiration for others in serving clients and fulfilling their responsibility to the legal system.

Webster has been practicing law since joining Cox Smith in 1964. Through the years, he ascended into leadership roles with the firm—which eventually combined with Dykema in 2015—including serving as Cox Smith’s Managing Director for nearly a decade. In his practice today, Webster serves as the external general counsel for a number of San Antonio companies and is highly regarded by clients and colleagues throughout the city, state and nation.

He is a Former Director of the San Antonio Bar Association, State Junior Bar of Texas, and the San Antonio Junior Bar Association and is also a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the San Antonio Bar Foundation.

Webster is also very active in the community and has played an instrumental role in the evolution of the firm’s commitment to community involvement. He currently serves as Director of YMCA of Greater San Antonio, the Central Texas Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, and has held former leadership positions with the Good Samaritan Community Services, San Antonio Youth Literacy, Law Focused Education, Inc., The University of Texas Law Alumni Association, and the Texas Tech University Alumni Association.

Last year, Webster was also received the San Antonio Business Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
