Dykema Attorney Jill Wheaton Named Chair Elect of Appellate Practice Section, State Bar of Michigan

ANN ARBORDykema is pleased to announce that Jill M. Wheaton, litigation member and leader of Dykema’s Appellate practice team, was recently elected chair-elect of the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Wheaton, who just completed a one-year term as treasurer of the Appellate Practice Section, will assume chair responsibilities of this group in September, 2013. Wheaton is based in Dykema’s Ann Arbor office.

The Appellate Practice Section, numbering nearly 700 members, works to advance the administration of justice in the appellate courts, so that the Bench and the Bar may better serve the public interest. Among its duties: helping appellate practitioners improve their advocacy skills; reviewing and commenting on proposed amendments to the court rules, devising policies and procedures to make appellate practices more efficient and effective; and, helping optimize the operational productivity of appellate courts.

Wheaton, a resident of Plymouth, joined Dykema in 1994 and has directed the firm’s Appellate practice since 2007.
