Gerald L. Aben is a member of the Health Care Practice Group in Dykema's Ann Arbor office. Mr. Aben's practice has been focused on representing health care clients, including health systems, ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs), physician groups, and home health care providers on a range of corporate and regulatory matters. In particular, Mr. Aben's practice has included acquisitions and mergers, corporate formation and governance, and regulatory compliance.
In addition to his legal practice, immediately following law school, Mr. Aben received an appointment to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Presidential Management Fellow where he primarily focused on budget and policy issues affecting that agency's Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response.
Experience
Assisted in the coordination and execution of a large medical center's clinical integration program, which involved multiple ongoing transactions, each of which included multiple parties.
Managed the completion and submission of Medicare Applications for a number of clients in connection with changes of ownership and other changes of information.
Representation of clients in completing tax-exempt applications, drafting employment and business agreements, and revising organizational bylaws and articles of incorporation.
Researched and advised clients on a range of Federal and State regulatory issues, including Medicare and Medicaid regulations, professional licensing issues, health care fraud and abuse laws, telehealth and e-prescribing regulations, and privacy and security of medical records.
