Ms. Sedmak regularly represents clients in complex disputes in an array of practice areas from financial services disputes to Indian-law to insurance and tax disputes. She has represented corporate, individual, and governmental interests in individually-filed and class action lawsuits. Ms. Sedmak's insurance litigation experience includes first- and third-party matters, including advising a major insurance company with respect to claims arising from the Flint Water Crisis and assisting general counsel to significant insurance industry organizations. Ms. Sedmak recently served as defense counsel in several related putative class action suits filed against numerous insurers, resulting in a complete dismissal of claims. Ms. Sedmak's financial industry practice focuses on defending financial institutions against individual and class action claims, including those brought under federal consumer protection statutes. Ms. Sedmak is experienced in all aspects of pre-trial matters, including written discovery, conducting depositions, drafting and arguing motions, negotiating settlement, and counseling.
Ms. Sedmak is an experienced litigator with a firm understanding of the business operations of her clients due to her experience prior to law school. She worked at large, first-rate hospitality companies in several capacities, managing a variety of aspects of operations and overseeing business development and marketing. Ms. Sedmak's clients appreciate the fact that she provides regular status updates, counsels them through the litigation process, and is readily available when needed.
