Victor C. Johnson, Dallas-based Member of Dykema’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, authored the article “West to Waco,” for Intellectual Property Magazine.

In the article, Johnson gives a brief history of the rise of intellectual property cases in the Eastern District of Texas, centered around Judge T. John Ward’s court in Marshall, Texas. Johnson described how changes in the law, including a 2017 Supreme Court ruling, and the 2018 appointment of Federal Judge Alan Albright in the Western District of Texas, Waco Division, led to a dramatic increase in patent cases filed in Waco.
