Robert A. Boonin, a member in Dykema’s Labor & Employment practice resident in the Firm's Detroit and Ann Arbor offices, is one of the featured presenters at the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Annual Conference & Exposition. This four-day conference, one of the largest gatherings of top-level HR professionals, will take place in Orlando, Florida, beginning June 22, 2014.

Boonin is scheduled to deliver a presentation—themed "Wage & Hour Compliance: Avoiding Lawsuits and Liability in an Aggressive Enforcement Arena"—to two sessions during the conference. In his remarks, Boonin will review the Department of Labor's latest enforcement trends and initiatives, and will spotlight the most common errors made by employers in classifying employees as exempt. Understanding these mistakes by others—often made inadvertently and innocently—will provide "best lessons" for attendees to evaluate their own payroll time and attendance practices, and to help identify potential compliance issues.
