Two Dykema attorneys—Alex W. Craigie, a member whose practice focuses on employment and general business litigation, and Laura Worsinger, a lawyer who provides counsel and litigation on matters involving trade practices and employment, and is highly experienced on California wage and hour law —will address the Independent Automotive Professionals Association (IAPA) at its next monthly meeting in Santa Barbara, California on Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 PM.

Craigie and Worsinger will speak on the topic, “Understanding and Complying with Recent Decisions Concerning Piece Rate Compensation Plans.”  Piece rate compensation—the simplest form of pay-for-performance—has been used for decades. In their presentation, Craigie and Worsinger will discuss the impact of recent court decisions that have raised serious issues as to the manner in which certain employers, including auto repair services, have implemented  these types of compensation arrangements. They will provide helpful guidance as to what business owners—especially automobile service owners—should do to insure that their piece rate compensation plans comply with the law.

The IAPA is a Santa Barbara-based trade association of highly professional automotive repair specialists, whose mission is to promote professionalism in the automotive service industry.
