Methodology

In January 2026, national law firm Dykema distributed its 2026 Automotive Survey via email and social media to a select group of executives at organizations that included original equipment manufacturers, suppliers, industry publications and advocacy groups, and outside financial, accounting, and legal support across the automotive space. The survey respondents represent a cross-section of executives and automotive advisors engaged in several areas of legal expertise, including litigation, government policy, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, electric and autonomous vehicles, and mergers and acquisitions. Survey participants were given the option to select up to three responses per question; as a result, percentages add up to greater than 100.
