Laura Baucus is a nationally recognized automotive and mobility lawyer, recognized by Chambers, who leads Dykema's 150-person Automotive, Mobility, and Transportation Group. She founded and leads the firm’s Supply Chain Group and previously led its Financial Services Litigation practice. Her practice focuses on supply chain disputes and transactions, complex commercial and supply chain litigation, breach of contract and warranty claims, defective product, recall, and supplier cost recovery disputes, and consumer financial services litigation.

Laura has negotiated, litigated, and resolved hundreds of supply chain disputes, often in high-stakes situations where maintaining continuity of supply is critical. She represents manufacturers and suppliers across the automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, technology, and mobility industries. Her practice includes supply chain disruption, purchase order disputes (including pricing, contract formation, force majeure, and termination), tooling recovery, breach of contract and warranty claims, defective product and recall-related claims, and supplier cost recovery disputes, as well as Uniform Commercial Code issues, including the “battle of the forms.” She handles matters in state and federal courts and in arbitration, including proceedings before the ICC, AAA, and JAMS, and advises on dispute resolution strategy.

On the transactional side, Laura drafts and negotiates supply agreements and terms and conditions. She also advises electric and autonomous vehicle companies on aligning contracts with industry standards and managing commercial risk.

Laura’s financial services practice focuses on large-scale portfolio litigation. She has managed thousands of matters for mortgage servicers, credit card issuers, and other financial institutions involving TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, TCPA, SCRA, and related laws, as well as title insurance disputes. She also represents telecommunications companies in disputes with landlords and other counterparties under leases and related commercial arrangements involving payment obligations, property damage, and risk allocation.

She regularly presents on supply chain risk, contracting practices, and dispute management.

I believe collaboration with clients and developing a strong back-and forth-relationship is the key to providing usable, practical advice.
