Dykema, a leading national law firm, is proud to announce its participation in Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 6.0 certification process. Dykema participated in Mansfield Rule 5.0 and joins over 180 law firms in this year’s iteration, which runs from July 2022 – July 2023.

Launched in 2017 with the goal of increasing diversity within law firm leadership, the Mansfield Rule’s pilot program asked firms to consider at least 30% women and underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers in their recruitment process for leadership roles. Diversity Lab has expanded its objectives over the past five years, adding new elements including the requirement to consider LGBTQ+ lawyers and lawyers with disabilities for leadership roles and other critical activities like pitch teams and lateral partner hiring.

The Mansfield Rule 6.0 broadens the requirements to promote underrepresented individuals in C-suite roles. In addition, it requires that firms consider individuals from all four historically underrepresented groups and publish transparent job descriptions when selecting for leadership roles, equity partnerships, and over a dozen other activities centered on the path to leadership for lawyers.

“Dykema joined the Mansfield Rule certification process knowing it would enhance the firm’s efforts to promote diversity and create more opportunities for diverse lawyers to be elevated to leadership roles,” said Len Wolfe, Dykema’s Chair and CEO.  “One year into the process, we are already seeing benefits as we align our focus on continuous improvement toward a more dynamic, diverse and collaborative workplace.” See more about the Mansfield Rule and the full list of 180+ firms involved in the 6.0 certification process here.
