Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today that Kris Young has joined the firm as a Government Policy Advisor in its Lansing office. Young brings more than 20 years of experience in Michigan legislative affairs, government relations, and corporate external affairs, including senior positions in legislative leadership, private practice, and the corporate sector.
Throughout his career, Young has worked closely with state legislators, local elected officials, and community leaders to advance legislative priorities, develop government affairs strategies, and navigate Michigan’s legislative process.
Young most recently served as Legislative Director for Michigan Senate Majority Floor Leader Sam Singh, where he developed and managed the senator’s legislative agenda. Earlier in his career, he also served as Chief of Staff to Michigan House Democratic Leader Christine Greig, overseeing caucus operations and coordinating legislative activities, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
Previously, Young served as External Affairs Director at AT&T, building relationships with state and local officials to advance the company’s legislative and business objectives. He began his career in the Michigan Legislature, serving as a legislative aide in both the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Senate.
“Kris brings an impressive understanding of Michigan’s legislative process and the relationships that are essential to effective government advocacy,” said Alan Wilk, Leader of Dykema’s Government Policy practice. “His experience working with legislative leadership, corporate stakeholders, and private-sector clients gives him a valuable perspective on how policy decisions affect businesses and organizations. We’re excited to welcome him to our team.”
Young’s experience in the private sector includes serving as a Government Affairs Specialist at Plunkett Cooney, where he developed and implemented government affairs strategies for corporate, nonprofit, and issue advocacy clients.
Young earned his B.A. from Central Michigan University.
