Mark Chutkow was quoted in The Guardian article, “Ghislaine Maxwell has virtually run out of legal routes to overturn conviction, experts say.” The Guardian reports that Ghislaine Maxwell has likely exhausted most of her legal avenues to overturn her conviction for her involvement in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of girls and young women. A federal judge recently rejected Maxwell’s claims that her constitutional rights were violated at trial and sentencing, leaving a potential appeal as one of her few remaining court-based options.
Chutkow explained that Maxwell could seek a certificate of appealability from the Second Circuit after the trial court declined to issue one. However, Chutkow said it appears unlikely that the appellate court will grant the certificate, which would effectively leave Maxwell’s legal avenues exhausted.
