Mark Chutkow is a nationally recognized white collar defense and government investigations attorney who represents corporations, boards of directors, executives, and professionals in high-stakes criminal, regulatory, and civil enforcement matters. As Co-Leader of Dykema’s White Collar and Government Investigations Practice, Mark helps clients respond to federal and state investigations, manage immediate legal and business risks, and protect their reputations.
Drawing on more than two decades of experience with the U.S. Department of Justice, including serving as Chief of the Criminal Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit and bringing landmark prosecutions, Mark brings an insider’s understanding of how government investigations develop and how enforcement authorities evaluate evidence. He represents clients in matters alleging corporate fraud, False Claims Act violations, health care fraud, environmental and safety issues, antitrust violations, public corruption, and other complex regulatory concerns.
Mark regularly guides companies through government inquiries, internal investigations, compliance reviews, enforcement proceedings, and crisis situations in which legal, operational, and reputational risks intersect. His clients include multinational manufacturers and automotive companies, health care organizations, financial institutions, public entities, non-profits, corporate boards, and senior executives facing some of their most sensitive and consequential legal challenges.
Recognized by Chambers USA in Band 1 for Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations in Michigan, Mark is trusted to lead matters where the stakes are particularly high. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, invitation-only organizations composed of accomplished trial lawyers from the United States and internationally. Mark also serves on the Executive Board of the Federal Bar Association for the Eastern District of Michigan and is a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation.
“I know the challenges and complexities of government investigations and prosecutions because I’ve led them on the other side. Companies and corporate leaders trust me to handle their most sensitive and difficult matters.”
