Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Aaron J. Keel as a government policy advisor in the firm’s Government Solutions group, resident in the firm’s Lansing office. Prior to joining Dykema, Keel served as Director for the Office of Legislative Affairs for the Michigan Department of Treasury. During his time with the Michigan Department of Treasury, Keel led a team of Legislative Liaisons advocating for the Department’s legislative priorities on behalf of the Governor Whitmer administration. He served as a member of Treasurer Rachael Eubanks’ senior policy staff and was responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing the Department’s short- and long-term legislative priorities that spanned the areas of state and local government services, as well as financing, local property taxes, higher education, economic development, and long-term budget stability.

Prior to joining the Michigan Department of Treasury, Keel served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to House Democratic Leaders Sam Singh and Chris Greig. He also previously worked as the Assistant Director of Government Relations for the Michigan Association of School Boards, and also as Legislative Director for Representatives Rudy Hobbs and Robert Wittenberg.

“Having held various leadership roles in the State Legislature and the Executive Administration, Aaron is a trusted and respected voice in Lansing,” said Alan Wilk, Leader of Dykema’s Government Solutions group. “His invaluable experience and intimate knowledge of navigating the legislative and political process will be a tremendous benefit to the firm and its clients.”

Keel received an M.A. from Colorado State University and a B.A. from the University of Michigan – Flint. In 2017, he was awarded the Rising Leader award by the Michigan Society of Association Executives.
