Robert Boonin Quoted in SHRM Update on Stalled DOL Overtime Rules

Robert Boonin, Detroit and Ann Arbor–based member in Dykema’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, and past chair of the Wage and Hour Defense Institute, was quoted in the Society for Human Resource Management article, “Justice Department Obtains Pause in Overtime Case Litigation.”

The article reports that the new administration has issued directives freezing pending regulation changes, including the DOL’s exempt and nonexempt reclassifications which were temporarily blocked in Federal District court in November. Boonin predicts that the DOL may decide it’s fruitless to appeal the injunction, especially since the agency admits the new guidelines were too extreme.
