Robert Boonin, Detroit and Ann Arbor-based member in Dykema’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, was quoted in the Society for Human Resource Management article, “Overtime Rule May Result in More Off-the-Clock Work.”
The article foresees that compliance with the new DOL overtime categories will cause former exempt workers to have trouble conforming to non-exempt status. To formalize the new rules in the workplace, Boonin recommends drafting clear-cut policies, displaying prominent guidelines and instituting corrective procedures in the event of under-reporting.
