Jason Hanselman Quoted in Associated Press Coverage of Michigan Congressional Race

Jason T. Hanselman, Lansing-based member in Dykema’s Government Policy & Practice group, was quoted in the Associated Press story, “Elections Board Allows Replacement Candidate for Congress.”

The article reported on the withdrawal from office by the victorious state congressional democratic candidate due to a physical injury. Because another democrat was appointed—rather than elected—as her replacement, Hanselman warns that the law authorizing such a solution could lead to schemes involving an officeholder renouncing his position on the pretext of physical incapacity in order to appoint a relative.
