Elizabeth Khalil, Chicago-based member in Dykema’s Government Policy Practice Group and member of the firm’s Financial Industry Group, authored the article “Policy Voices: The Data Security Threat in the Mirror,” for the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.

In the article, Khalil highlights that while most perceive that data security threats come in the form of sophisticated hackers, many of threats actually come from the ways we ourselves handle paper and other hard-copy records, as well as the ways we guard access to our electronic media and systems. She points out that while it’s vital to secure our networks against external hackers, it’s also important to keep in mind how our everyday actions might help protect—or threaten—information we want to keep safe.
