Richard L. Lieberman Comments on Opportunity Zone Benefits for Bloomberg

Richard L. Lieberman, Senior Counsel in Dykema’s Chicago office and member of the firm’s Tax Practice Group, was quoted in the Bloomberg Tax article, “Companies May Have to Pass on Extra Opportunity Zone Benefit.”

The article discusses the extra benefit that allows corporations that invest in opportunity zones to split up their gains and losses to receive tax breaks. With the economic downturn occurring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there may be very limited use of this benefit as corporations do not have spare cash on hand to make a long-term investment.
