Arlene Switzer Steinfield, Dallas-based senior counsel in Dykema’s Labor and Employment Practice, was extensively quoted in the Society for Human Resource Management article, “Fantasy Football: Productivity Threat and Camaraderie-Builder,” which discusses the effects fantasy sports is having on the American workplace.

In the article, Steinfield points out that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 specifically exempts fantasy sports that meet certain criteria and that the states of Kansas, Maryland and New Jersey have even enacted laws that permit fantasy sports. She also recommends that employers create a policy on gambling in the workplace which could address fantasy sports.
