Daniel R. Stern, San Antonio-based member of Dykema’s Labor and Employment practice group, advises employers to prepare for prohibitions of inquiries into a job applicant’s pay history in the Human Resource Executive Online article, “Salary-History Bans Expanding.”

Because the trend to remedy income inequality is deterring salary history requests in employment interviews, Stern predicts HR departments will increasingly consult wage surveys to establish salaries, rather than past job application data.
