Evan J. Atkinson

Evan J. Atkinson is a Member in the Austin office of Dykema, where his practice focuses on complex strategic transactions involving private equity, healthcare organizations, professional practices, and law firms. He represents buyers, sellers, and private equity-backed sponsors in acquisitions, mergers, recapitalizations, divestitures, and other transactions, with particular experience in management services organizations and the evolving structures used to support investment and growth in professional services businesses.
Evan has extensive experience working with healthcare organizations and professionals, including dental and medical service organizations and practices across a wide range of specialties. He also advises attorneys and law firms on strategic transactions and has written on the emerging legal MSO model and the regulatory considerations surrounding investment in law firms. His practice spans corporate and finance, governance, healthcare, and mergers and acquisitions.
Before entering private practice, Evan served as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Ronald B. King of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas. Prior to law school, he spent nine years in the United States Army, including service in Iraq as a Blackhawk door gunner and in leadership roles supervising soldiers under his command. He earned his B.S. from American Military University and his J.D., cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
