Gary Segal has a core philosophy for advising clients: keep it simple. Despite his extensive experience in corporate law and broad knowledge of commercial finance, clients across several industries know he’s not one to overcomplicate or overlawyer matters. To them, he is a savvy business attorney and valuable sounding board.

Director of the Financial Industry Group, leader of Dykema’s lending practice team, and a certified public accountant, Gary documents, negotiates, and closes loans of all shapes and sizes, although the deals are far from cookie-cutter.

He represents lenders and borrowers in various asset-based, cash flow, mezzanine, second lien, and real estate loans, as well as workouts, turnarounds, and liquidations.

Gary also provides general corporate representation to privately held companies, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, and private equity funds.

Easy to work with and always the pragmatist, he advises them on formation, governance, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and everyday contract and business issues.

I’ve always had an interest in business and finance, and I bring my curiosity to every client engagement. By learning the ins and outs of the client’s challenges and goals, I give them the strategic counsel they need.
