Hunter Schmittou is an associate attorney in Dykema’s Chicago office, where his practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and business disputes. He represents clients across a range of industries, including corporate, finance, healthcare, and manufacturing, advising on high-stakes matters that require strategic, detail-oriented advocacy.

Hunter’s experience spans all phases of litigation, including fact investigation, legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, discovery, and trial preparation. His practice emphasizes partnership disputes, business torts, and derivative and class action litigation, and he works closely with clients to develop litigation strategies aligned with business objectives.

Before entering the legal profession, Hunter served in the United States Air Force and worked as a software engineer for a leading defense contractor. He draws on this background to approach complex commercial disputes with discipline, analytical rigor, and a practical understanding of technology-driven business issues.

Hunter earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he served as a research assistant to Professor Aneil Kovvali focusing on corporate governance scholarship. He earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Western Governors University.
