Katherine “Katie” Koczak is an associate attorney in Dykema’s Detroit office who practices in the Business Litigation Practice Group. She represents clients in commercial disputes and related litigation across various industries.

Katie’s practice is grounded in legal research, motion practice, discovery, factual development, and client advocacy. She brings both courtroom and negotiation experience to her work.

At Wayne Law, Katie competed in the Jessup International Law Moot Court, one of the most renowned moot court competitions in the world, first as an oralist and then as the Chancellor of her team. The competition simulates proceedings before the International Court of Justice, bringing together top law students from across the globe. Katie’s team advanced to represent the United States in the international rounds for two consecutive years, including a 2026 finish among the top 3% of teams worldwide.

Katie has conducted complex legal research on issues involving international law, business litigation, labor and employment, environmental litigation, and real estate transactions. She has also drafted and reviewed legal memoranda, motions, purchase agreements, and discovery materials. She also has hands-on experience representing clients in eviction proceedings, including negotiating directly with opposing counsel, drafting pleadings, and conducting court hearings.
