Mike Mezey

Drawing on nearly a decade’s worth of experience in federal and state courts, Mike has a strong foundation in dispositive motions, appellate issues, statutory interpretation, federal jurisdiction, and complex legal analysis. On the federal level, Mike clerked for Judge Stephanie Dawkins Davis of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and Judge Brandy R. McMillion of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. And on the state side, he clerked for then-Judge Noah P. Hood of the Michigan Court of Appeals—now a Justice on the Michigan Supreme Court.

Those clerkships allow Mike to bring a judicial perspective to his work with clients. Having analyzed briefs, factual records, and complex questions from the court’s perspective, he understands how judges evaluate legal arguments and the issues that can influence the resolution of a dispute. He applies that perspective when assessing legal positions, identifying potential weaknesses or procedural issues, and developing clear, well-supported written advocacy.

Mike’s experience in the judiciary ran the litigation gamut. He worked on issues ranging from arbitration, bankruptcy, class actions, commercial contract disputes, and employment, to jurisdiction, requests for injunctive relief, securities fraud, scores of constitutional claims, and more. Mike also brings private-practice litigation experience focused on critical motion writing. Together, these experiences gave Mike sound judgment and allow him to distill complex ideas into convincing, punchy, and readable prose with one aim: persuading judges to rule in his clients’ favor.
